Our Background
Eternal Energy Systems Ltd is a company based in Whitstable, Kent and has been formed to sell and install Solar Water Heating Systems for domestic hot water and space heating in the home. Our installers are trained to meet the highest industry standards and have achieved Clear Skies and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation (only accredited installers can help you secure the government grants which are available through the Low Carbon Buildings Programme).
Eternal Energy Systems is a member of the Solar Trade Association and we undertake installations for the Creative Environmental Network (CEN). We aim to work within the county of Kent but will undertake installations as far north as the Thames and west into Surrey and Sussex. Our expertise has been gained in domestic property but we also install larger systems for commercial premises.
We are one company making this initial contact with potential customers. We undertake the survey, the planning and the installation and we also manage the after care and system maintenance which entails just an hour each year to check all the components are functioning correctly, and just 2 hours to change the heat exchange fluid every 5 years.
The Questionnaire
Simply complete the online Home Survey to provide information so that we understand the family’s hot water needs, how the home, roof and loft space are configured and what your current boiler and water heating arrangements are. Alternatively phone, write or email to Eternal Energy Systems and we will post it to you. Return the completed questionnaire and we will then call to arrange a home survey undertaken with no cost or obligation. The questionnaire is available as a PDF download too - by far the easiest option
The Survey
During the survey we will identify exactly where the solar panels and major components will be sited and discuss this with you. We will also offer practical advice on how to reduce energy consumption to lower your bills and save you money. The survey will take just 20 minutes followed by as much discussion and information about solar systems as you would like including, an explanation of all the benefits that an eternal energy system will provide for you and your family.
The Quote
From the information gathered from the questionnaire and survey we compile a written quotation. We discuss our recommendation with you during the visit and the quote package will follow within 7 days. This will detail how to apply for each of the grants available to make the process as simple as possible. Examine the quotation and when you have made your decision just give Eternal Energy Systems your instruction and we will confirm the price and agree a convenient date for the installation.
Grant Subsidies
During the home survey we advise you of all the grants that are available and provide you with their contact details. The quotation will include all the information you need to successfully apply for the grants and show the value of subsidy available. £400 from the Low Carbon Building programme funded by Government. Up to £1500 from Kent local authorities.
Planning Permission
Since April 6th 2008 most properties do not require formal planning approval to install solar panels on the roof. If however, your property is not exempt, we will produce a draft application for you to gain planning “Consent for Permitted Development" at no cost.
The Installation
The system will usually be installed in 2 days and with the minimum disruption to your household routine. The solar panel and new twin coil cylinder are installed on day 1 followed by the internal plumbing and wiring, testing and commissioning on day 2. The Solar twin coil cylinder will have the same size or slightly larger dimensions and capacity as your original hot water tank.
Aftercare
Eternal Energy Systems will schedule an annual appointment to check all the components remain secure and sound taking just 1 hour. Every 5 years the system will be drained and refilled with the antifreeze solution taking just 2 hours. We are a local company and committed to each and every one of our satisfied customers. We can put you in touch with a household in your local area who already have one of our solar systems. You will be able to discuss with them how they are benefitting from the system and how easy the installation was.
Save Money
- Household hot water costs down by 70%
The average home will spend 27% of its total energy bill on water heating and with the average household now spending between £1000 and £1500 annually on carbon fuel and electricity, a solar thermal system can save between £200 and £400 this year and much, much, more as prices increase. ( fuel prices have doubled in the last 7 years and are forecast to double again before 2020).
- VAT at only 5% AND Government Grant of £400 available
We will also help you through the Low Carbon Buildings Programme grant application process and when successful the government will rebate £400 direct to you on completion of the installation. Download the grant application form here
- Low maintenance and will dovetail with most hot water systems
Your boiler fires less (it can be switched off between March and October)reducing wear and tear and saving on maintenance for the boiler. This will save you money as will using up to 30% less carbon fuel which in turn reduces CO2 emissions by nearly 1 tonne a year. It is estimated that the boiler will last 15% longer due to less use. This can equate to a further two and a half years of life from your boiler.
- Solar Systems that will last for more than 35 years
Solar Thermal Systems are designed to achieve a long service life with minimal maintenance. The Genersys flat panel systems that we use have been installed on roofs for 35 years generating hot water quietly and efficiently each and every day and they carry a 20 year warranty. Constructed from corrosion free materials the solar panels will withstand all weather conditions and over 20 years they can save you more than £20,000, based on today’s prices and 15% fuel inflation rates.
The Thermomax evacuated tube solar panels are of British design and manufactured in Northern Ireland. The DF 100 panel can be installed on virtually any property due to the flexibility of mounting arrangements. Visually they are the most attractive panel with performance second to none.
- A Solar Water System can pay back the investment in 8 years
A typical solar panel system for hot water in a 4 bedroom home with 4 or 5 occupants and average hot water usage will cost around £4000 plus 5% VAT. The system can pay for itself within 8 years and will continue saving you money for 35 years and more.
- Your home will grow in value with this clean green energy system
If you sell your home in coming years the solar thermal system will have enhanced the value of your home. Both the Guardian newspaper and MORI have produced research that a Microgeneration system installed on your home can add 9% or £9000 to the value of your home. And after the system has paid back your investment it will go on to save you money year after year, perhaps £20,000 in 20 years and £50,000 in £35 years.
Save Energy
- Solar Energy is free and abundant and virtually inexhaustible
Every day, including short, cold and dull days in winter, each panel will capture over 90% of the direct light that falls on it generating all of a home’s hot water requirement from March through October and save 70% of the energy used to heat water over the whole year.
- Solar Energy supply won’t be interrupted, diverted or stolen
Light is delivered FREE, direct to your home at 186,00 miles per second. There is less on cloudy short winter days but the supply only ceases overnight. If the Russian producers of gas divert our contracted supply or our European partners renege on the supply contracts that Britain holds with them, the solar system will still be providing heat and warmth to support the family home.
- Solar Energy does not need to be generated, pumped, processed, transported, piped, distributed, burned, metered, billed, or paid for
Each of these processes in turn greedily consumes carbon fuel and your solar system reduces dependance on the energy grid distribution system. All the above processes add cost and waste and carbon pollution to provide the raw fuel then burned in your home. Your contribution to the reduction of carbon emissions reaches far beyond just your domestic consumption and emissions.
Save the Environment
- A solar hot water system gives a carbon saving payback of 2 years
Carbon is consumed in the manufacture of the solar panels and system components but the system can save this amount of carbon within two years of normal operating use.
- Solar Energy creates no carbon emissions
Light arrives on your roof as pure energy that the panel converts into useable heat by heating the transfer fluid then circulated through the hot water cylinder. The electric circulation pump is the only part of the system requiring mains electricity . COMING SOON solar powered pumps running on electricity generated by solar photovoltaic panels.
- Solar Thermal Systems use Recyclable Materials
All the materials used in the panel manufacture are recyclable and most of the components and fittings in the rest of the system are too: copper, glass, bronze and stainless steel. With only one moving part (the circulation pump) and no corrosion the system is designed to keep maintenance to a minimum.
- Uses solar energy that will otherwise dissipate into the atmosphere as waste heat
A solar thermal system consists of solar panels that capture light and transfer this radiant energy by heating fluid circulated through the panel in a sealed circuit. The heat is transferred to the water in a twin coil hot water cylinder in just the same way as traditional boilers produce hot water.
Eternal Energy Systems install every manufacturers solar systems and are accredited Vaillant Solatherm , Alpha SolarSmart , Schueco, Genersys and Thermomax installers.
Installing a solar water heating system represents the most cost effective first step towards energy self-sufficiency for you, your home and your family.
It won’t solve all the issues we have yet to face but invest now and it will reward that investment with a substantial return. There is no return from any traditional energy system, only a commitment to pay increasing cost for diminishing supplies of carbon fuel ! The next step may be Wind Turbines or Photovoltaic Panels to produce electricity and Eternal Energy Systems will be at the forefront of this industry to help households throughout Kent to take each successive step. The savings made from your Solar Thermal System can be used to invest in each new technology.
If you choose to take out a home improvement loan to pay for the system, £4000 borrowed will cost you around £22 a month over 20 years. That is close to the amount you will have saved on the gas bill this year and the system is very nearly paying for itself. As fuel prices rise that repayment may become but a small part of the savings achieved each year.
NOW IS THE TIME TO INVEST IN THE FUTURE, YOUR FUTURE, YOUR FAMILYS’ FUTURE
You have already started the journey by researching on the Internet. Keep at it until you reach firm conclusions and make a decision soon. It will be as important a decision as that of buying your first home and the outcome will provide warmth and comfort, security and peace of mind along with a sound return on your investment…….. in exactly the same way as you have benefited from that first decision to buy your own home.
